Story time, but for the whole body
Sensory Stories is a two-hour morning session built by a pediatric speech-language pathologist, held in our Bethany playground. Kids move, listen, dig, build, and make something to take home. Caregivers get real answers from someone who does this for a living.
Built for 2 to 5 year olds, so the little one and the big sibling can come to the same thing.
Three Wednesday mornings this fall, 9:30 to 11:30 am. Come to one, or come to all three and watch your child warm up more each time.
Led by Dr. Gayatri Ram, PhD, CCC-SLP
Founder of SynapseKids in Beaverton. Her approach is regulation-first and neurodiversity affirming, built on a simple idea: kids learn when they feel safe and curious. Nobody is asked to sit still, perform, or talk on cue. The movement and the mess are the teaching, not a warm-up.
What the morning looks like
🍂 Two books, read out loud and acted out. One gets everyone up and moving, the other brings the group back down to the rug.
🎵 Movement and song woven through the story, so listening happens with the whole body.
🍎 A themed sensory bin to dig through, sort, scoop, and pour.
🎨 An art or dough activity tied to the story, and yes, it comes home with you.
🌟 Free play in the full indoor playground afterward, included with every ticket.

What caregivers walk out with
A strategy handout and a book companion activity sheet, every session. Practical ways to build communication at home using books you already own. Plus the chance to ask Dr. Ram your own questions, in person, without a referral or a waitlist.
The fall line-up
September 30: Leaves & Apples. A leaf hunt to get everyone moving, then ten red apples on the rug, then a bin full of real leaves, pine cones, and pasta to sort.
October 28: Halloween. Friendly, not spooky. Costumes welcome.
November 18: Thanksgiving. Gratitude, gathering, and a whole lot of scooping.
Good to know
Ages 2 to 5. Siblings are welcome and need their own ticket, which includes their playtime too. A grown-up stays for the whole session; this is not a drop-off program. Shoes off, grippy socks on at the door, and we sell socks at the front desk if you forget. We are a nut-free facility. Space is limited, so book ahead.
