A Festive Craft Afternoon Where Little Hands Make Their Own Bappa

Many of us grew up with Ganesh Chaturthi in the house. The idol arriving. The smell of modaks. Grandparents fussing over where the murti should sit. Our kids are growing up here instead, and the festival can end up feeling like something that happens somewhere else, to someone else.

So we are making one together.

Twelve kids, twelve blank ceramic idols, and a table piled high with paints, jewels and glitter. Priyali of Craft With Me PDX guides them through it while they make it entirely their own. Some will go traditional saffron and gold. Some will use every color at once. All of them will be proud of it.

Two hours to paint, to run around while it dries, to come back and add one more rhinestone because it needs one more rhinestone. Then home, carrying their Bappa carefully with both hands, to sit on your altar the next morning.

You do not need to be Indian to come. You do not need to know the story. Bring your kid, and we will make room.

Paint Your Own Ceramic Ganesha
Every child gets their own blank idol and full creative freedom, from traditional saffron and gold to hot pink and purple.

Jewels, Gems & Finishing Touches
Once the paint dries, kids come back to the table to add rhinestones, glitter, and all the sparkle their heart wants.

Open Playtime While the Paint Dries
No waiting around bored. Kids have free rein in our play space between painting and decorating.

Guided by Priyali of Craft With Me PDX
A real teaching artist walks them through it, not a drop-off craft table.

A Keepsake to Take Home
Their Ganesha goes home the same day, ready for your altar or a shelf, boxed up while the paint finishes setting.
